Sabai serrulata or Serenoa repens, also known as saw palmetto, is commonly used in hair loss treating products. It is a small plant that originated from the lands of North America. Saw palmetto is rampant in the areas of the Atlantic coast in Florida and in Georgia. It is said that the benefits of this herb lies in the berries that are either black or brown in color. Saw palmetto is the most popular herbal treatment for those who are experiencing a certain type of hair loss called Androgenic Alopecia. It can be used by both male and female since this is a natural treatment. This medicinal herb works by blocking a specific enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This would prevent the formation of dihydrotestosterone. Dihydrotestosterone, a type of male hormone, is considered as the main reason of hair loss among men and women.

Aside from saw palmetto, the extracts of nettle root are also used as a natural treatment for hairloss. Nettle root does not only help in improving hair growth, it also aids in treating BPH or benign prostatic hypertrophy. BPH is a common health condition that only happens in men. This medicinal herb can be applied topically at least two to three times a day. There are also pure nettle root extracts that can be taken orally to produce healthier hair. The recommended dosage for nettle root is only 500 milligrams a day and should not go beyond that.

Rosemary is a medicinal herb that can be effective as it is and it is even more effective when combined with other herbs. Rosemary herb can be boiled together with nettle root or sage. It can be used as a mild shampoo for those who are undergoing hair fall problems. The oil extracts of rosemary are also great for massaging the scalp which helps in promoting blood circulation in the area.

A local herb that originated from India is also one of the best herbs for hair loss treatment. Henna can be a soft conditioner that helps maintaining healthy hair. Moreover, for those who wanted to have a jet black hair to make it look fuller, henna is also the inexpensive solution. After a few weeks of using henna, many have testified that the amount of their falling hair has decreased.  It prevents breakage and best of all it leaves you with a soft, shiny hair.
